Many people, myself included, like the shabby chic style of decorating. This style typically includes old, weathered-painted woods and metals and lots of white. Other colors act as accents, but remain soft in tone. The overall result is to achieve an elegant effect using “worn,” yet “good” taste items. The style started in Great Britain and is largely found in country houses, but anyone can incorporate shabby chic into their home, whether country or otherwise. Find shabby chic items at yard sales, swap meets, second hand stores and new home decor stores. Shop online for shabby chic items too. With just a few pieces and the right color scheme, you can turn a drab room into an elegant one.
